With the support of the American Embassy in Lisbon (American Corner Program) the University of Aveiro offers two laboratories to the academic community. They work as maker spaces where the academic community can come together to invent, create, and learn. In addition, they provide access to new technologies and tools. It also, empowers the sharing and exchange of knowledge, enabling the development of transdisciplinary and collaborative projects, and encouraging the pleasure of discovery and knowledge, where anyone can materialize their ideas by building an object or inventing new concepts. They are:
- MakerLab- Nearby the SALT Laboratory, the American Corner MakerLab space has as its primary goal to support the academic community in the development of modulation (including 3D printing), mixed reality and innovative technologies projects;
- MediaLab - Inaugurated on December 13th, 2016, the American Corner MediaLab space is installed on the 4th floor of the UA Library. This laboratory has as its main goal to support the academic community in developing projects relating to photography (analogue and digital), as well as with the transference of older media formats into digital ones.
Both laboratories are the responsibility of the UA Library and are by scheduling.
